Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic (Japan) vs. Super Mario Bros 2. (USA)

In the last game I talked about, Super Mario Bros. The Lost levels, I mentioned the the other game that is a Super Mario Bros. sequel, based off of another Japan only Nintendo platformer! Now, I'm going to compare the two, to see what changed from Doki Doki Panic to Super Mario Bros 2. I'm probably going to assume that you already know about Super Mario Bros 2, so if you don't, I apologize. Thanks to Jerry Lehr for suggesting this.

This Title screen shows the four main characters and a short introduction...

But, in Doki Doki Panic, there is a large cloudy sky. None of the original tile was saved in Super Mario Bros 2.

The game focuses on the storybook aspect much more, which makes sense, based on its story. Also, the characters are Imajin, Lina, Mama, and Papa.

The game starts as usual, falling out of the sky.

But wait ... I can't run! Not at all! apparently they added running in the Super Mario version.

The Mushroom used to be a heart to give you another hit. Also, the potion used to be a lamp (no genie, sadly).

It looks like the shell used to be a strange face. Odd.

Without running, this jump is near impossible to make.

Instead of a giant eagle head, you have another strange face.

The slot machine just doesn't feel right without the graphics around it. So plain.

The masks don't attack you when you pick up the key, something that was changed later on.

Here, the Bombs say "BOM" rather than "BOMB."

Finally, the color of the plant's leaves are black. C'mon game, did you really think I wouldn't notice?
